Yes, I am being a post whore. I am procrastinating.
My confession- my temps are a little higher than normal and my boobs have been hurting more. I like teasing J about me being pg. I know I am not, but there is a glimmer of hope that maybe my joke would be real.
Edit: well now that I type it out, I realize how dumb this is!
Re: Confessions
YAY! That means you are in LOVE! We went shopping yesterday and J saw baby costumes at the Halloween store. He was like we need a kid, just so we can dress them up! I suprised that it even came out of his mouth.
We're doing the avoiding method, so I am 99.9% sure that I am not in less FF is WAY off.
I am 7 days past ovulation. My temps have been up and I'm happy but I wasn't certain of my O date and we did the deed three days before 0. I know there is a slight chance but I can't get my hopes up. I'm sure I'll be getting my peroid soon. But I was looking at test strips yesterday on Amazon, just in case.
Another confession: I want to go back to Park City, Utah to go skiing this year! We went last year on our honeymoon and had a blast. We would go right around our anniversary so it would be a nice way to celebrate. Last night I discovered that I can use my "companion certificate" for DH's airfare making his fare only $99 and mine would be around $260, not bad. Also the condo is only $610 for four nights. I think this is do-able, but we can't book it right away so again I can't get my hopes up.
Married the love of my life on 1-21-12. Our princess arrived on 5-28-13.
I did not study this weekend for the test I have tonight. I hate being unprepared. So today I get to cram on my lunch and hopefully for a little bit before my test. Ugh!! My own fault I know.
I'm sure this is just hormones but I get so irritated when my SIL gives me pregnancy advice. I've gotten it from other people and don't mind. I think it bothers me coming from my SIL because I definitely don't agree all of her ideas and she has to try to argue her points with me like she's trying to convince me I'm wrong. I want to buy a brand new crib. I just do. I want something all my kids can use. Apparently I'm breaking some rule in not trying to get everything I can at a garage sale including my crib and car seat. - sorry that part was more of a vent
Really? I thought that you weren't supposed to get these things at a yard sale for safety reasons.
From what I've read, you can but there are restrictions. Car seats have to be less than 5 years old and not have been in an accident. As far as the car seat goes, you just never know. What if it was in an accident and they don't tell you? I know you can get them re-certified somewhere, but I'd just rather buy a new one. Peace of mind for me.
Cribs don't have an age limit, it's just the drop side ones were banned. So if you can find a crib that isn't a drop side crib, you'd be okay. As for the crib, I'd just like something new I can use for all my kids and possibly grand-kids in the way far future if they don't change the regulations on them again.
Maybe that's a little weird on my part, but those are my only two must have as brand new items.
If I have scary dreams about this tonight, I'm letting you know. LOL. that is creepy. And I'm sure seeing what I grew up in would probably not meet the standards today either.
And the missing parts on the crib is totally true. DH and BIL put together a crib for MIL this weekend. The directions were really wacked and they had to take it apart a couple different times. In the end they only had a few dowel piece left over, not a big deal. But it wouldn't surprise me if someone else doing the same crib would leave more pieces out just out of frustration. So far I do just smile at SIL and nod. I'm still going to do what I want.
Well, the reason I mentioned it is this. The companies that make these products don't make as much money if we use stuff that people have passed down to us or we get cheaply through a yard sale, consignment sale, etc. Since they want to make money, they lobby the government to enact tougher standards or that you can't use something older than a certain number of years. That forces you to go out and buy more of their products and making them more money.
Not to say that sometime there aren't legitimate safety issues, but these companies prey upon us because nobody wants to be the parent who didn't get the 'safest' product for our child.
I think that even if safety standards weren't updated so frequently, I would probably still want to buy a new crib and carseat. To me, those are just the two things I wouldn't ever want to take a chance with.
I completely agree, Cony. Those are really the only two items I'm being picky about mainly because I just don't want to chance it. I'll reuse the items for my second child since I'll know what they've been through.
I completely agree with Mark as well. Companies want your money so they don't make newer models compatible with old models, ect. This isn't the case for everything. But in a lot of the car seat reviews I'm reading, they aren't compatible with the older stroller models for example. Not sure how much I'll use a stroller in the beginning anyway, so this isn't a make or break for me. It's just crazy.
